Download Your Ad History: New “Ad Activity Report”
WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new feature called Ad Activity Report for users who wish to keep track of their ad history. This report will allow users to:
- Monitor which ads they have seen and when,
- Identify which advertisers have provided content,
- Block these advertisers if necessary,
Users will be able to track these details comprehensively. Reports can be generated upon request and exported in ZIP file format. Users can also opt for the report to be generated automatically every month.
Despite the introduction of ads, WhatsApp assures that it will not compromise user privacy. Personal messages, group chats, and calls remain end-to-end encrypted. Ads will only be displayed in the “Updates” section and will never interfere with your private conversations. The targeting of ads will only utilize the following information:
- Broad location data such as city or country
- App language
- Channels followed
- Previous ad interactions
