11 Bit Studios has announced a revised version of the popular city-building and survival game Frostpunk, titled Frostpunk 1886. This new game has been developed using Unreal Engine 5, and new mechanics along with a unique progression system called “Purpose” have been added.

Frostpunk 1886 is scheduled for release in 2027. The developers also shared that the game will feature mod support, and highlighted that utilizing Unreal Engine technology has allowed them to create a more flexible and upgradable game structure. According to their statements, there are plans for additional expansion packs in the future.

The studio clearly stated that the new mechanics will offer a different experience even for players who are well-acquainted with the Frostpunk universe. Furthermore, they have expressed their goal of developing their own games more frequently with this project. New information about Frostpunk 1886 is expected to be announced in the coming months.
