EA, Need for Speed Markasını Geri Çekti: Yeni Oyun Gelmesi Beklenmiyor!

Matthew Everingham from the Speedhunters website, funded by EA, has suggested that the Need for Speed series might be fading away into the annals of history.

The Need for Speed series may have quietly come to an end. The claim comes from Matthew Everingham, a writer at Speedhunters, a site focused on automotive culture. Everingham shared on Instagram that, “Speedhunters is on hold. EA has put the Need for Speed series on the shelf, which means no funding for us.”

Speedhunters served as a platform bringing together car enthusiasts from around the globe and was supported by EA. Interestingly, the site hasn’t been updated since April 8, 2025.

EA Unsatisfied with Need for Speed Earnings

This rumor about the discontinuation of Need for Speed may not be surprising for those closely following the industry and the series. The franchise notably failed to meet expectations, especially with titles released between 2015 and 2019. Although Need for Speed Unbound, released in 2022, performed better than its predecessors, it still failed to achieve the desired sales figures.

By 2023, EA had redirected Criterion Games to assist another team on the Battlefield series. This suggests a shift away from racing games for EA, with the company now focusing on larger projects like Battlefield.

For instance, the company aims to reach a milestone of 100 million players with Battlefield 6. In contrast, Forza Horizon 5, considered the pinnacle of racing games, has only reached approximately 45 million players so far. This indicates that the future of the once-dominant Need for Speed series appears quite bleak.
