“Elektrik ve Filtreye İhtiyaç Duymadan En Kurak Bölgelerde İçme Suyu Üretebilen Yenilikçi Cihaz Geliştirildi”

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) researchers have developed a device capable of producing drinking water from the air without any power or filtration. This device could provide significant benefits to areas facing water scarcity in the future.

Water access has become a serious global issue, prompting scientists to continuously conduct new research on the topic. Producing water from the air is one of the notable advancements. So far, we have seen various methods, and now, researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA have presented a groundbreaking study in this area.

MIT’s researchers announced the development of a brand-new device that can produce water from the air. The new device is attracting significant attention due to its compact size and its ability to directly generate water from air without requiring power or filters. The research findings were published recently in Nature Water.

It can produce approximately 161 ml of drinking water daily even in the driest areas

The team’s passive atmospheric water collector employs a vertical hydrogel panel that absorbs water vapor from the air. While hydrogel usage is not a first in such devices, MIT researchers have utilized different approaches in this device to create a more effective system and solve previous issues.

The hydrogel is molded into a bubble-like nylon layer that resembles a small dome when it absorbs water. This design provides more surface area and greater water vapor absorption capacity. It’s worth noting that this material is framed with a glass layer coated with a polymer film. The device itself resembles windows.
