Sharp has introduced its charming AI companion named Poketomo, set to launch in Japan. This device offers both a compact robot and a mobile app version, designed to provide users with daily conversations and emotional support.
Measuring just 12 cm tall and weighing only 200 grams, the device can be easily transported thanks to its portable casing. Users can communicate with Poketomo through both voice and text, while its color-changing lights express emotions, creating a lively companion feel.

Moreover, Poketomo does more than just chat; it recalls past conversations and remembers places you’ve visited, gradually becoming a better friend to you over time.
One of Poketomo’s standout features is its seamless transition between the robot and the app. You can start a conversation with the robot at home and continue it on your phone while out. All interactions are synchronized via the cloud into a single memory system.
The app subscription will cost 495 yen (approximately $3.37), while the pre-order price for the robot version is set at 39,600 yen (about $270). Sharp aims to sell 100,000 units by 2027. The device will make its debut at the Tokyo Toy Show from August 28-31.
