Samsung and Google are taking steps into the world of augmented reality (AR) together. This new product the two companies are working on was first mentioned at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event, which introduced the Galaxy S25 series.

According to Samsung executive TM Roh’s statements to Bloomberg, the two tech giants have joined forces to develop augmented reality glasses. The project is still in the development stage, and no estimated launch date has been provided.

The new augmented reality glasses will be part of Android XR

The augmented reality glasses that Samsung and Google are developing will be a significant competitor to Meta’s Orion, the first AR glasses that received significant attention after being unveiled last year.

Samsung and Google’s augmented reality glasses will be part of Google’s recently announced Android XR platform, designed for mixed reality headsets. This platform was also utilized in the recently announced Project Moohan mixed reality headset. According to Bloomberg, these new augmented reality glasses will be launched compatible with the Android XR operating system.
