As one of the world’s most popular social media platforms, TikTok is currently going through a tumultuous process in the US. The platform was set to be banned in the US a few days ago, but Donald Trump decided to postpone that decision temporarily. Nevertheless, TikTok’s US operations must be freed from Chinese control.

Readers may recall that MrBeast has stepped up efforts to acquire TikTok. However, the person Trump has in mind for acquiring TikTok’s US operations is not MrBeast. In a statement, Trump mentioned the names of Elon Musk and Larry Ellison.

Elon Musk is quiet, but Larry Ellison seems interested

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk has been relatively silent on the matter. On the other hand, we can not say the same for Larry Ellison. In fact, Trump stated on this topic: “I have the right to make a deal. Therefore, what I am thinking of telling someone is to buy it and give half to the United States. Let them (referring to ByteDance) have a great partnership.” To which Larry Ellison responded, “Sounds like a good deal to me.”

However, it is important to emphasize that such a deal cannot be unilaterally made. For Trump’s proposal to be valid, the Chinese government must grant approval.
