Recent reports suggest that Apple is planning to launch a smart camera in 2026. This camera is expected to utilize Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence tools, as revealed by new patent filings indicating Apple’s intent to advance in this area.

Currently, there are security cameras that leverage AI capabilities, including human recognition features. However, Apple aims to take this a step further, enabling their cameras to recognize individuals without seeing their faces.

Identifying Individuals Without Seeing Their Faces

According to Apple’s new patent, the security camera will surpass traditional facial recognition technology, being able to identify a person even without seeing their face. The system can memorize the physical characteristics of individuals it recognizes through facial recognition, including clothing and body shape.

According to the patent, this information will be stored in the security camera’s memory for varying durations. For instance, clothing data will be retained for only one day, while body structure data may be kept for a longer period. The system will also analyze movement patterns like the way individuals walk.

With this technology, Apple will be capable of identifying individuals even when their faces are not visible. However, it is worth noting that many technologies have been patented by Apple and other tech giants that we have yet to see come to fruition as final products.
